I thought the first book was excellent and the second good. This was just blatantly absurd. The theme of -I don't know what this is in my box but if I take it out it will be exactly the use I need- is getting a bit much. The whole meeting up with Number 8 was totally ridiculous.
I kept thinking that if a few kids can hold off the evil empire, why couldn't a whole planet of adults win? I officially give up on this series, I learned my lesson with Jordan's WOT (although these books are admittedly nowhere near as long)

I have the other two books and the third was just as good as the first two. Love this series
