The High King of Montival

“Nobody wrecks a world better than S.M. Stirling,” [Harry Turtledove] and nobody imagines a more epic story than that told in the bestselling alternate history Novels of the Change—a modern world without modern technology, where a young warrior and a staunch group of heroes fight to unite a devastated land made savage by hostile tribes, feudal kingdoms, cannibals and chaos. Now, this remarkable post-apocalyptic saga comes to a stunning conclusion, as a young man faces his destiny....

As The High King of Montival opens, it is Year 24, a generation after the Change. The expedition led by Rudi MacKenzie has crossed the strange and barbarous North American continent to search for the source of the Change...and claim the powerful Sword of the Lady, symbol of Rudi’s rule. Now, with the magical Sword in hand, he and his allies begin the long journey home to the Pacific Northwest where they will face the legions of the Prophet. To achieve victory, Rudi must assemble a coalition of his former enemies and forge them into an army that will rescue his homeland. Only then will Rudi be able to come to terms with how the Sword has transformed him, and assume his place as Artos, High King of Montival....

The whole series has been fantastic. It is not a sit and read the whole book series. It is high drama and has much descriptive language. I find it hysterical that another reviewer said these books made him fall asleep because they were too detailed. I got a good laugh. Maybe he should stick with Altiverse comic books and not read adult books until he develops some kind of taste and can words with more than tow syllables.

I've seen said that there are more books to come in this saga...I pray so. This one was a letdown at the finish.
