Near the end of the 27th-century, two ships set out from Earth to escape America's fascist theocracy. No one knew where Seeker and her sister ship were going, but they carried more than 5,000 settlers. Who were never heard from again.
Had the colonists perished? Or had they done what they said they'd do—gone so far out that their world remained undetected? Nine millennia later, it's a celebrated mystery…and now antiquities dealer Alex Benedict is in possession of a cup that seems to hail from Seeker. But the cup's story is dramatic in itself—a tale of thievery, secrecy and deception that leads him and his trusted pilot Chase on a deadly adventure to the edge of known space…and the face of human tragedy and treachery.

Since I just gave Echo a scathing review I felt it only fair to come back and say that Seeker is a really great book. A true page-turner with a nice surprise at the end.

If you like sci-fi mysteries and archaeology, you'll really like this. Characters are well drawn, plot keeps you going until the end.

This book was my gateway-drug to McDevitt's work. I couldn't put it down. There is a very human story here, mixed in with sci-fi archaeology.

I enjoyed the book. The middle of the book failed to keep my attention but the end improved my overall impression of the book.

This is a story that grabbed me and held my interest all the way to the end. A mystery of a missing civilization, slowly revealed as the story is told...each clue bringing the reader toward the answer of what, why, and how. Buy it, you won't regret it.
