As if flesh-chomping zombies weren’t bad enough, The Walking Dead universe is rife with roving bands of survivors, all seeking safe haven. Some are led by villains of the roughest kind. But there is no greater villain than the despot who runs the walled-off town of Woodbury—The Governor.
Brutal and malevolent, the Governor has his own sick sense of justice: whether it’s forcing prisoners to battle zombies in the arena for the townspeople’s amusement, or chopping off the appendages of those who cross him.
The year he debuted, the Governor was voted “Villain of the Year” by Wizard magazine, and his story line was the most controversial in the history of The Walking Dead comic book series. Now, for the first time, fans will discover how The Governor became the man he is, and what drove him to such extremes.
Written by Robert Kirkman, co-creator of the New York Times bestselling comic books and executive producer and writer on the record-breaking Walking Dead television show, and acclaimed horror novelist Jay Bonansinga, The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor is the debut novel in an original three-book story arc—a splatter-punk tale of pure horror, as zombie fiction was meant to be.

This book was extremely boring..I couldn't even absorb the words properly. I felt like it was wrote by an amateur author(s). It was wrote in a really strange tense through the entire book: "David hears something in the woods. He looks around and sees nothing". And it never breaks from that..Which these opinions may be ok for some readers, but if you are a fan of the comics and tv show and really want to know the back story of the Governor, i suggest going somewhere like Wikipedia and reading the summarized version and skipping out on this entirely.

I have been following the T.V. series, so I started reading the comics, I read 1 thru 8 then read this book and continued on with the rest of the comics 9 thru 15. This book actually goes more in depth as to how the governor became who he was. I think it was very well written!Definently kept my attention....but of course I am hooked on The Walking Dead!!!!!
