In Omen by Christie Golden, book two of the 9-book Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi saga, Jedi Knights are going insane, their uncontrolled Force talents threatening everyone around them. Exploiting anti-Jedi sentiment, power-hungry Chief of State Natasi Daala is sending police to hunt them down and deal with them the only safe way they know how: by freezing them in carbonite.
Now one of these deranged Knights is displaying a rare Force ability known only to the late Jacen Solo and the alien Force-users called the Aing-Tii. On a desperate mission to uncover the truth behind Jacen’s fall to the dark side, Luke Skywalker and his son Ben head to the Aing-Tii’s world to figure out the connection.
While Han and Leia Solo narrowly foil another deranged Jedi bent on destruction, an even greater threat is looming. Millennia in the past, a Sith starship crashed on an unknown planet, leaving the survivors stranded. Over the generations, the ways of the dark side have been nurtured, and now, unbeknownst to anyone, this lost tribe of Sith is poised to reclaim their self-determined destiny as rulers of the galaxy. Only one thing stands in their way, a name whispered to them through the Force: Skywalker.

In the end, I would recommend this book to any Star Wars lover. It's a very character based, slightly plot driven novel, which holds a lot of appeal in the aftermath of the darker, more plot driven Legacy of the Force. Only time will tell if this focus can remain once the plot swings into high gear, but if Omen is any indication, Christie Golden will pull through. May the Force be with you.

The book was a little slow to get started, but once I got past the first couple chapters it was very interesting. I felt they're developing the Star Wars continuation fairly well. I do feel that the story lines are becoming stale again as before Del Rey got the contract. I prefer to read their pre-New Hope stories.

It tell the story how the Galactic government will try to control something that they cannot understand. Beyond that it was a good read.
