The Expanded edition is more in-depth than their first one. While some character and event info isn't there, they still delivered showcasing the heavy-hitters, mainstays, and the big events up to the Dark Reign storyline. Definitely worth the price of admission.

Although I was very impressed with the amount of detail that was presented in this encyclopedia,I did run past a few flaws that are ever present in every DK book that I have purchased(DC Encyclopedia & Avengers Assemble): eratas are abundant!
Also, along with repitition of characters there are a few "key" characters that are mentioned throughout the book but have no biography. Some major events have been left out as well, mainly the Infinity Wars.
The information that is presented is sparse at times but the illustrations are abundant, stretching from corner to corner.
All in all, a good purchase for any fan of the Marvel Universe, or comic books in general.

MARVEL Comics is more than just a publishing company that has given us some of the greatest comic books in ever -- it's a pop-culture mainstay that has also created the most popular characters in modern-day mythology! With the MARVEL ENCYCLOPEDIA these characters are collected in beautifully profiled, their behind the scenes stories richly crafted as if they are true flesh and blood. In this updated and revised edition the Marvel Universe is brought up to speed and modernized making these heroes as relevant today as they were 70 years ago!
