Anita Blake’s reputation has taken some hits. Not on the work front, where she has the highest kill count of all the legal vampire executioners in the country, but on the personal front. No one seems to trust a woman who sleeps with the monsters.

Still, when a vampire serial killer sends her a human head from Las Vegas, Anita has to warn Sin City’s authorities what they’re dealing with. Only it’s worse than she thought. The head belonged to the city’s executioner, one of 10 officers who have already been slain paranormal style—and a message was found written in blood on the wall:

“Tell Anita Blake I’ll be waiting for her.”

Fully aware it’s a trap, Anita heads to Las Vegas, where she’s joined by three other federal marshalls, including the ruthless Edward, hiding behind his mild-mannered persona. It’s a good thing Edward always has her back, because when she gets close to the bodies, Anita senses “tiger” too strongly to ignore it. The weretigers are very powerful in Las Vegas, which means the odds on her rubbing someone important the wrong way just got a lot higher….

With Skin Trade, Laurell K. Hamilton delivers her creepiest, most compelling Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novel yet!

This is one of the better anita blake books that lkh has written in quite some time. There is actually a plot! The plot takes up more than 50 pages of the book! Wonders never cease. This is a semi return to form of the earlier anita books, possibly because she's teamed up with Edward and out of her home turf. The only problem I have in this basically postive review is that yes there are some way overdone group sex scenes that have gang/date rape overtones. The other drawback is that in order to make up for her hard work in actually constructing a plot instead of a lot of filler sex and wardrobe scenes, her next few anita full length books willbe 95% filler to 5% plot. Sigh. Well- that's what used book stores are there for!

This book hit the mark...it was, as usual a book I couldn't put down. We should ALL be thanking LKH for her work creating a place where we can get away from our everyday lives and live someone else's life for a little while.

Loved It : )

I Love the Anita Blake series. Skin Trade is a great read. I'm really happy that she moved away from the constant fighting and brooding of Anita's boyfriends. It was getting a little tiresome. But Skin Trade more then makes up for it...Can't wait to read the next book : )
