For mind-reading barmaid Sookie Stackhouse, the day-to-day activities of the supernatural communities in and around Bon Temps, Louisiana, are of vital interest. She is blood-bound to the leader of the vampires, a friend to the local werewolf pack, works for a man who is a pure shapeshifter and has a younger brother who’s a werepanther. And she herself, though only some supes can detect it, has fairy blood in her veins.
Mainstream society has known about the Undead for years, but most humans aren’t up on the shifting power dynamics in the paranormal community. To them, the Vamps are mysterious seductive creatures—undead and nonhuman, but a recognized part of society nonetheless. They don’t even know about the Weres. But that’s about to change.
The Were community has finally decided to follow the lead of the Vamps and reveal their existence to the ordinary world. It all appears to be going smoothly, but tensions rise when the body of a werepanther is found in the parking lot where Sookie works. The human cops think that a human did it. The panthers think it was her Were brother, Jason. Sookie sets out to clear his name—a task made complicated when she finds out that her life, too, is in danger….

I have to say that this may have been the best one of the series. I can't wait for Dead in the Family!

Ms. Harris is a bit erratic with the character additions and subtractions in this series, but I was happy with some the subtractions in this installment. Ms. Harris' writing also seems to be getting stronger with each Sookie book. I enjoy reading about everyday situations with a little supernatural element thrown in. Sookie has man problems like normal people, hers are simply a little different being a telepath and the fact that there are things such as vampires, weres and fey. These books are easily translated into everyday, non-supernatural problems that anyone can relate to. It's the supernatural element that keeps us coming back for more. SPOILER ALERT: Warned. Ok then here it is. Here's hoping that Eric and Sookie can work this thing out. If not, I'm all for Sam and Sookie :-p Good riddance to Quinn.

I am so drawn into everything sookie! No matter how many books I've read about her it just never gets old. I finished this book in a couple of hours because I had waited so long to get it, its the last one out there for now and I thoroughly enjoyed it,( I was mad I read it so fast but I just couldn't help it). I cannot wait to see what happens next in bon temps. Of course you won't be dissappointed read it and join in on all the fun!!!

When ever I start a new Sookie book it takes over my life and this one was no different. When I start a new book I read every chance I get and tink about the next time I get to pick it up and read more.
Dead and Gone was no different. It was full of twists and turns that you couldn't predict. I can't wait for the next book to come out this May. I have yet to be disappointed with a book yet, just continue to read more and more about Sookie.
