Nobody Owens is a normal boy, or he would be if he didn’t live in a graveyard. Raised from infancy by ghosts, werewolves and other denizens of the night, the young orphan has learned the antiquated customs of his guardians’ times, as well as their ghostly teachings, such as the Fade, the Slide and the Dreamwalk.
All of which comes in handy when Bod faces the dangers and adventures of the cemetery—an ancient Indigo Man, an abandoned city of ghouls, the strange and terrible menace of the Sleer. As Bod begins to venture outside the bounds of his tomb-filled home, he discovers he must use all the tricks his supernatural family has taught him. But will it be enough to help him survive the man Jack...who has already killed his family?

I, who am not into fantasy, love this book. It is funny and inspiring. I bought the audio version for my Ipod so I could listen to it any time I needed a pick-me-up. Neil Gaiman has mastered the English language with wit and subtlety. I doubt he was taught. I think he was born talented. I can see his characters as I am writing this. They are so real, I would know them if I met them in the park.

Gaiman is a master of stories that are great for young and old alike. It is a kids book, we're talking simple language, imaginative worlds, and good ole' black and white evil. But it is a book that as soon as I finished i was looking around for children to read it too... just for an excuse to re-read it.

I really liked this book. I wasn't sure at first, but after I got into it, I couldn't put it down. Although this book seems to be more geared towards adolescents, there is definitely something for adults. Gaiman's style is edgy and fantastical yet not overly descriptive. The first few pages really captivated me and made me want to continue you on. It is a story of love and the ability to transcend even death. Great story and worth a read.

I LIKED THE BOOK, BUT THE END SEEMED RUSHED AND NOT COMPLETE. I THINK YOUNGER PEOPLE WOULD LOVE THIS BOOK. BUT FOR ME IT LEFT ALOT UNANSWERED.

I didn't know what to expect from the Graveyard Book. I was quite pleased with what I found. Bod found kindness and love in the most unexpected place, in the face of an evil that was mindless and reasonless. He learned that there are reasons for some rules and that those who love us will be willing to sacrifice themselves for us even when we break those rules. The story left me with a feeling of optimism. I've passed it on to my 16 year old son to read. We'll see how he likes it.
