Get ready for a double dose of intense suspense as two cunning killers lure Alex Cross back into the game.
Between therapy sessions with his patients and spending time with his kids, retired detective Alex Cross is as contented as he’s ever been. Even so, his growing relationship with homicide detective Brianna Stone means he’s never far from the action. But when a depraved killer throws a woman off the balcony of her D.C. apartment in front of a stunned crowd, and a videotape from the psychopath reveals his “performance” was for Alex, he suddenly finds himself back on the job. As the murders continue, each time before horrified onlookers, Alex and Bree are stymied by the “Audience Killer’s” ability to stay one step ahead of them. Adding to their frustration is the chilling news that Kyle Craig, the insane mastermind whose hatred for Alex runs deep, has escaped from prison and gone on a murderous rampage of his own.
There’s no one like Patterson for building tension, and it skyrockets as the rising body count feeds a frenzied media, spreading terror throughout the city. By the time Alex suspects he’s being played in the ultimate double cross, it may be too late… Explicit violence.

Each Alex Cross book I read is better than the last one. Each character is fleshed out so well I believe I could find each one in a crowd. I love the Alex Cross best of all James Patterson's books.
