This is the first James Patterson novel that I've read (although I saw Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider on tv, so I didn't have all these great expectations as some of the others reviewers had and rated this a bad novel. It took some time for me to get into it, but when everything started coming together, it didn't turn out as bad as others say. The ending, to me, was a surprise. I wasn't expecting it at all. I will say that if the more recent books are better than this one, it gives me something to look forward to :-) ...

I love James Patterson and his creative writing style, but, this book was very non-James Patterson. The ending was very predicable and very boring!! I would not recommend this book at all.

After have read all of the Women's Murder Club, Hide and Seek was not what I expected it to be.

The only Patterson novels I have read before this one were Murder Club 1 & 2. So I expected this one to be more of that type of writing. Even as a female, I don't like romantic, mushy books. This book runs a little too close to that. Other than that the story is overall good. I thought maybe since this is an early book by James Patterson that he was still finding what works for him. I think it is a good read, not captivating though.

I read this several years ago, but it left such an impression that I feel the need to warn others. This may have been the worst book I have ever read -- I really couldn't believe what I was reading. Horrible plot, stupid, unbelievable characters. James Patterson is an incredibly popular author, so I have to believe that this was atypical of his writing. Like Lisa K., the only reason I finished it is because of my need to finish books I've started. I kinda want my six or so hours back, though.
