Bullet

Like her adrenaline-fueled vampire hunter and the supernatural beings in her orbit, Laurell K. Hamilton knows that some thirsts must be quenched—like her fans’ non-stop hunger for ever more Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novels! For the first time in more than a decade, Hamilton satisfies that demand with the release of two Anita books in the same year: first came Flirt, and now comes Bullet.

The triumvirate created by master vampire Jean-Claude, necromancer Anita Blake, and werewolf Richard Zeeman has made Jean-Claude one of the most powerful vampires in the United States. He’s consolidating power in himself and those loyal to him, doing in America what the seductress Belle Morte—the original holder of the ardeur—did in Europe when she was at her height of power. She almost owned the continent, and there are those who are determined that Jean-Claude won’t do the same in America. His motives may be kinder, but as any lawyer will tell you, motives matter, but you’re just as dead.

Assassins are coming to St. Louis, and Anita knows they’re coming. Yet being forewarned doesn’t mean you can win. Do Anita and her master vampire possess enough power to dodge this silver bullet?

More of the Same
November 27, 2011

I have been reading Ms Hamilton's books since her first, and now I'm calling it quits. Her first Anita books were wonderful-tons of action with some sex. But now they are tons of sex and little or no action. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the sex. But I loved the action that kept me on the edge of my seat. Anita has slowly evolved into a worn out and boring character now, and I can't see myself trying to endure another one of her books, Bullet was really a waste of my money. It was consumed with tiring descriptions of a character's hair, body parts and clothes. I put this book down after reading about 100 or so pages for about 3 weeks. I picked it back up to try and finish it and was still bored out of my mind. My question is: Where is the action?? I'm sorry to say that this will probably be my last purchase of the Anita Blake series. I've been buying each new book hoping for a turn-around from constant sex to a good story. But with each new book, I don't see that happening.

Glad it's Over
September 27, 2011

I've read all of the series, Anita Blake, except Bullet. The first few books were great. I'm not going to buy Bullet because I already know how it will read. Now I'm not a prude by any means, and a little erotica is fine throughout a book. But the last several books I've skipped page after page, until the sex scenes were over. They'll all the same. Ok, maybe a different guy, or group of guys, but still the same old, over and over. Today I'm going to buy the first in the Merry Gentry series. I'm only going to buy the first book to see if it's something fresh and new. Too bad, I'm a fan Ms. Hamilton but please let's change

Missing the "Old Anita"
November 26, 2010

I haven't bought "Bullet" yet and Iprobably won't. After reading the reviews of other readers I can't help but feel the same way reguarding all the bed hopping and sex. I enjoy Anita's character but, come on, nobody has that much sex in one book. Please Ms. Hamilton get back to writing like you used to. More story please!!!
