Stephen King always entertains
May 15, 2012

I loved this book and wish I had a place to retreat to when my life gets crazy. I can always picture the people this author writes about and I would love to have Lisey for a friend, what a hoot that would be. It's a witty tale and as always King doesn't disappoint. Worth the read

You can't be an observer to Lisey's Story
September 27, 2010

There is a psychological space where we interact with the world, and a different one we reserve for intimate attachments: parents, spouses, lovers, true best friends. Most books exist in the former where it's safe and familiar even when it's terrifying, and most readers read there. Lisey's Story is in that latter space, where you are privy to things you don't want to know, and might be a little afraid to share. Figuring out exactly where you are as the reader may be part of why the beginning feels "slow." If you've never had an imaginary friend, made up a language, or run away from home to places that don't exist as far as the rest of the world is concerned, you'll probably never understand Lisey's Story. Give yourself permission to get inside Lisey's head from the start, and you'll be in for a delightful ride through a tiny corner of the richly dangerous place that is Stephen King's imagination.

LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 21, 2010

I LOVED this book! It took me awhile to get into it and to figure out what the heck was going on, but once I figured it out, it was hard to put down! Who comes up with terms such as "bad gunky", "Boo'ya Moon", "long boy", "bool", etc.???? It's Stephen King, that's who! The man is brilliant! What a great writer! I plan to read this book again; this time I will be able to figure it out right at the start. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!

What is going on?

After two sittings and a measly 70 pages I just can't do it. I don't think I will be finishing this one. Maybe I'll pick it back up and try again if I'm hard up for something to read down the road. I find it really hard to follow the bizarre, broken dialogue and beginning of the "story line". I hopped online to read the reviews to get others' perspectives. I see I am not the only one wondering what in the world was King thinking with this one.
