Geoff Johns

 If you’ve been a fan of DC Comics this past decade, chances are you have writer Geoff Johns to thank. Beginning with his 2004-2005 miniseries Green Lantern: Rebirth, Johns revived the Silver Age Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, and launched the character on a path to superstardom. Subsequent storylines like The Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night only increased the character's popularity—as well as that of Geoff Johns himself. Johns counts impressive runs with characters such as The Flash (in which he similarly revived Silver Age Flash Barry Allen), Superman (in which he reintroduced the villainous General Zod and wrote Superman: Secret Origin), and the Justice Society of America among his comics credits. But his love for the superheroes of DC Comics has transcended their original medium: Johns has written episodes of the Superman TV series “Smallville,” where he introduced the Justice Society of America to the show, and is also the principal writer for DC Universe Online, DC's MMORPG. Johns is also a co-producer of Green Lantern, the movie starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan. This move to Hollywood brings him full circle in a way: He got his start in entertainment as a personal assistant to famed director Richard Donner. In February 2010, following the smash success of Blackest Night, Johns was named Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment—which includes not just DC Comics but also the company's film, television, digital and gaming wings.. A native of the Detroit area, Geoff Johns currently lives in Los Angeles.
